If anyone was in any doubt as to the downward spiral of spiritual degeneration that the Church of Scotland is in, they need look no further than the news concerning St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh.
The church where John Knox was minister from 1559, and which is also known as “the High Kirk of Edinburgh” and the “Cradle of Presbyterianism”, is set to appoint the Revd Scott Rennie as their next minister. Rennie was the first openly gay Church of Scotland minister and it was his appointment to a congregation in Aberdeen that began the controversy which led to the Church of Scotland accepting and recognising same-sex [attracted] ministers within the Kirk.
