Written by a Moroccan Christian with two Muslim-orientated publications to his credit, this book focuses principally on the deity of Christ.
The introduction describes briefly how Jesus is viewed by Mormons, JWs, Buddhists, Muslims and others. It ends with an invitation to consider the evidence and ‘decide whether Jesus really is God’. Reasons for accepting Christ’s deity are drawn from a variety of biblical and non-biblical sources. Appendix 1 answers the most common objections to this crucial doctrine, though not always as clearly as might be expected.
One chapter shows the impact Jesus has made on people’s lives; and the last two chapters are essentially evangelistic, concentrating on Christ’s saving work and why it was necessary. Appendix 2 contains a list of OT Messianic prophecies and their NT fulfilment.
With its somewhat unusual content, this book seems tailor-made for anyone who regards Jesus’ identity and role in history as a live issue.
A work of this nature needs to maintain high standards of accuracy and precision, so that nobody can pick holes and thereby evade the real issues. Regrettably, however, there are a number of flaws. Here is an example: under the heading, ‘The prophet David’ are quotations from three psalms, but David wrote only one of them.
The book has been read by a friend who frequently engages with Muslims. He sees it as a very useful tool. It could also be given to serious seekers or new believers who genuinely desire to know the real Jesus.
