As a small player on the French evangelical scene, I would like to confirm what you wrote in your obituary of George Verwer (en May 2023). George took a personal interest in our family for over 50 years, often replying to our prayer-letter with a two-line e-mail. Seven years ago, I took George from one meeting in our area to another, and we stopped on the way to pick up our son Paul, who has Down’s syndrome. When Paul got into the car George said to him: ‘Hello Paul. I’ve been praying for you since you were born.’ Paul was then aged 36. What a legacy!
