Dear Editor,

Re the letter from Tom Marcus (en September ‘Library Bible Famine’) about Cheriton Library not stocking a Bible.

I have spoken to acquisitions as I was interested to know whether the information you were given regarding only two Kent libraries stocking the Bible was accurate. They have looked into the matter and have identified that there are in fact two Holy Bibles at Folkestone library in the adult non-fiction lending section, one reference only Holy Bible at Folkestone and one at Hythe library. Looking at the number of Holy Bibles in all the Kent libraries, they have identified around 30 Holy Bibles (Gideons) across the county.
