Dear Editor,
In her article, ‘Gender and The Matrix’ the (December en), Karen Soole affirms Bible’s teaching that ‘men and women are different,’ and that ‘we live as male and female’. But she then adds: ‘… but the Bible doesn’t define femininity or masculinity, or describe gender identity.’ I find this confusing.
May I suggest that there is more than sufficient in Scripture to make such definitions unnecessary? From Genesis onwards, God has made it clear that men and women were created to fulfil different but complementary roles and responsibilities. He has done this both through instruction and by commendation, implicit and explicit, of Bible characters who fulfilled them faithfully.
