Dear Editor,
Simon Marsh in January’s en says creation’s hope is Christ but he does not say how. In fact, creation needs Christ in the same way we do. We may try to feed the poor and cut down on pollution, but we are not able to stop fighting ourselves, let alone get lions to eat grass as they did in the beginning.
Christ is returning to clean Earth properly and make it a fit home for God with us; but to do this he must first burn it up as once he flooded it. Creation, like us, is fallen, as Paul explains in Romans 8, which means annihilation unless we are covered by Christ’s righteousness, as the animals were covered in the Ark.
