What a great encouragement is John Benton’s column, ‘Out of the blue’, in the August issue of en. For him to relay how Simon, an early convert, has had a fruitful Christian life and ministry is a great encouragement to us all to ‘keep on keeping on’.
A second blessing is the remembrance of the ministry of David Watson. As a young person in the 1970s I vividly recall a video that we watched in a small youth group where Mr Watson was talking about the ministry of the Holy Spirit. He was tidying up papers and books on his desk and using it as a picture of how we like to have our lives and our churches all ordered and under our control. He then opened the sash window behind his desk and the papers began to fly about. God may be wanting to breathe His Holy Spirit into our lives, he said, with new vigour and life and we should not quench that moving.
