Dear Sir,
I would like to add my concern to those of Dave Brennan on the song ‘The UK Blessing’ (July en).
The claim in the introduction is that ‘Churches from around the UK have come together…’ Thus we are led to believe that these are Christian churches proclaiming their central message. How different are the introductions that Paul gives to his epistles! How different too are our hymns: ‘Jesus the very thought of you…’; ‘Jesus, the name above all names…’; ‘Jesus shall reign…’ etc. These spell out the message that salvation is our greatest need and only Jesus can save.
