Once again we have seen the Boat Race held on a Sunday despite the numerous objections from many people, especially Keep Sunday Special (KSS) supporters, when the then sponsors made the decision some years ago that this event should become normally a Sunday date. This unpopular decision is believed to have had the backing at the time of English Heritage. Many members of the public wrote in to complain about the switch from Saturday to Sunday, but received very rude replies from The Goldie Boathouse in Cambridge.
Now that the event has a new sponsor (Cancer Research UK), one might have hoped for this decision to be revisited. It ill behoves a respected major charity to support this sort of erosion of Sunday.
