Many thanks for the Commentary in the April issue of en, drawing attention to the importance of a man’s family in assessing his suitability for church office.
The refusal of some congregations even to consider what verses such as 1 Timothy 3.4-5 or particularly Titus 1.6 might mean has astonished me. The resulting situation, where an elder or deacon has a family who publi-cally reject his beliefs, makes it doubly difficult to convince others that they should give these beliefs a hearing. Thank you again for this timely comment.
