Dear Sir,

What a delight to read Professor Michael Haykin’s well-argued and informative article ‘Are you a good historian’ (en, December 2015). Historical accuracy is at the heart of the Bible message and we would do well to point to the sound historical method displayed by Luke in the prologue to his Gospel – to offer a single example – when we are called to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope that we have (1 Peter 3.15).
