Dear Editor,
I was very interested to read in the October EN Commentary about how churches need to think ahead in the changed world of political correctness which we now inhabit.
Your third possible example of ‘going through it’ mentioned churches opting out of the legal side of marriages. For a long time I have thought it quite inconsistent with a doctrine of church separation from the state, that we regularly act as agents for the state when we are the registrars for weddings. Over the years I have tried to introduce this for discussion but I have failed to rouse any interest.
