Nearly a dozen religious leaders representing faiths including Christianity and Judaism gathered at a Texas abortion clinic on 9 July to ‘bless’ it and declare their support.
The gathering was sponsored by the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, Texas Freedom Network and Whole Woman’s Health.
‘The first goal was to say we support you and the work that you’re doing, especially in a state where you’re constantly having to meet new regulations or deal with critics and protesters’, said Amelia Fulbright, of Labyrinth Progressive Student Ministry. ‘We believe God is already present in that space … [we] ask for prayers of safety, healing and peace, to infuse the space with an energy that is life-giving for women, a lot of whom are in an anxious time.’
