After 11 years of work by over 100 people from across Latin America, the one-volume Contemporary Bible Commentary (CBC), was received with great enthusiasm at Expolit18, a book fair for the Spanish-speaking world, in Miami from 9-12 August.
Dr Samuel Pagán, chief translation consultant at the International Bible Society, spoke for many when he said that this is a work that every pastor and student should have and use.
Every part of the Bible
The importance of the CBC rests on the fact that it is focuses on the understanding of every part of the whole Bible. Sermons often quote a small selection of texts, ignoring many parts of God’s Word, including the Old Testament. It is aimed to stimulate the study and the expository preaching of Scripture, and in a way that is relevant to the lives of people living in this continent. The commentary also includes over 100 ‘bridge’ articles, written by specialists in each field, pointing the reader to biblical principles relating to contemporary concerns. Biblical and practical, it is written with a Latin American passion and style, to reach the hearts and minds of every reader.
