It was reported in December that a seal for a papyrus document signed by King Hezekiah of Judah has been found in Jerusalem at the foot of the southern wall of the Temple Mount.
The oval bulla, about half an inch wide, was discovered by a team from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. It features a two winged sun, with wings turned downward and flanked by two symbols portraying life. Other bulla’s bearing the name of King Hezekiah (reigning 727– 698 BC) have been seen in the antiques market but may not be genuine. This discovery is looked on as being more important because it was found by archaeologists. The seal is believed to have been discarded from a royal building with the rubbish.
