It was reported in early April that a young girl who was employed in Palmelkh, Saudi Arabia, had her mouth and left eye sewn shut after she was heard to say: ‘Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, is a personal Saviour’.

Officials at her work were angered by what she said and ordered the punishment to stop her from expressing her love for Christ Jesus.

As well as being inhumane, the process used was intentionally unsanitary. The plastic thread contained chemicals in order to cause infection.
