Post-Christian culture considered

LtoR: Glen Scrivener and Andrew Wilson

This year’s ‘Think’ Conference has taken place in South East London.

Andrew Wilson was the convenor and main speaker and scene-setter at the conference that is held annually at King’s Church London, where he is one of the pastors.

This year’s conference tackled the urgent matter of how to effectively engage our contemporaries with the gospel. We spent time reflecting on whether ‘post-Christian’ is an appropriate term that accurately describes our present situation.

The final consensus was that perhaps we live in a post-Christian culture with pre-Christian people. Rachel Gilson, one of the speakers, put it like this: ‘Secularism is the teenage child of the gospel (Christianity), who hates their parents but still wants to use their stuff.’

‘Rachel (author of Born Again This Way), dealt with the issue of navigating parenting in the context of a society shaped by the LGBT agenda. She has a book on this topic coming from The Good Book Company (GBC) soon. Another GBC author, Rebecca McLaughlin, spoke on sex and Generation Z.

en columnist Glen Scrivener completed the speaking team with sessions on Speaking Life to our neighbours and the world.

180 people attended the conference. It was stimulating and refreshing.’
