New hope in Haslemere

Chris being baptised during the service to constitute the church

After nearly three years of prayer and planning, a new church has been launched in Haslemere, Surrey, along with two baptisms.

Jim Sayers writes: On a snowy weekday in December 2019 three people met in an empty chapel in Haslemere to pray together. The church that met there had closed. Their prayers were answered by a small team coming together from Grace Church Guildford, and they launched a plant on Sunday 1 March 2020.

Now, two years on, the congregation has been formally constituted as an independent church. Back in March 2020 one of the elders, Lance, had invited his friends, Chris and Shân, to come to the first-ever Sunday service. Both Chris and Shân were baptised as part of the service to constitute the church. Hope Chapel now needs a full-time pastor, to lead them forward as part of the eldership.
