Target may be exceeded

Edwin Ewart, Principal of the IBC

April 2022 marks the half-way point of a Ten Year Vision for the Irish Baptist College (IBC).

As of this year, IBC has been in existence for 130 years. Originating in Dublin in 1892, it moved to Belfast in 1963 and since 2003 has been located in the lush countryside near Moira. The College’s primary focus has always been to serve the Irish church context; even so, graduates have served on all the inhabited continents of the globe.

In addition to 2022 marking the 130th anniversary, April 2022 marks the mid-way point of the Ten Year Vision. In April 2017 the College launched a Ten Year Vision which aims to place 70 gospel workers on the ground in ten years. At the time of writing, almost halfway through the plan, the College has helped 37 graduates into a variety of ministry positions – with a fresh batch of graduates moving into Christian service in May. Graduates have gone on to serve in churches, mission agencies, student work and parachurch organisations. This is hugely encouraging and offers hope that the target of 70 might be surpassed by April 2027.
