Caring for Life founder dies

The creator of a pioneering gospel charity which has helped thousands of vulnerable people has passed away.

Peter Parkinson was called to ministry as a young man. He took up his first senior pastorate at Harehills Lane Baptist Church, Leeds in 1968 and the church grew massively under his care. In 1972 he left to form Leeds Reformed Baptist Church (LRBC), now Emmanuel Baptist Church, and Peter pastored there until his retirement from pastoral ministry in 2005.

During his time as Senior Pastor at LRBC he felt compelled to reach out with the love of Christ to a number of vulnerable and at-risk young people in his own congregation. This led to the creation of Caring For Life in 1987. CFL is a gospel work which has offered practical love and care to thousands of vulnerable and hurting men and women over the last 34 years, and many souls have been led to Jesus. Peter’s inspirational and visionary leadership and big-hearted Christ-like compassion were greatly used of God to establish and drive this work.
