The Cambridge-based Jubilee Centre is gathering leading Christian thinkers to explore opportunities for social reform ‘rooted in a Biblical vision for society’ after Covid.
Executive Director Jonathan Tame (pictured left) said: ‘The coronavirus pandemic has created a pivotal moment in history. Sweeping changes have upended established norms, given vast power to the state and amplified the impact of inequality. How will this be rolled back, and what will the post-Covid-19 landscape look like? Is there a distinct contribution that comes from a Biblical perspective?’
He added: ‘Jubilee Centre has been setting up some post-Covid-19 taskforces that bring together leading thinkers and practitioners to explore opportunities for social reform rooted in a Christian vision for society. Already a discussion paper on universal basic income has been published in the Church Times and another, that challenges the way debt is favoured over equity, featured in London’s City AM newspaper. The conversation is starting to build.’
