‘What are they learning?’

The content of the 2020 Sex Education Curriculum, as interpreted by headteachers and those who design curriculum materials, took many parents by surprise. For example children in Hull, were asked to define ‘hardcore and transsexual porn’ as part of their lockdown school work.

Children as young as 11 were asked to consider different types of pornography and other inappropriate topics for homework at Archbishop Sentamu Academy, Hull.

One parent called the PSHE homework ‘completely inappropriate’, saying her 11-year-old daughter does not need to know ‘things that would destroy her mind’. She added: ‘Now it’s making me think, what are they learning at school that we don’t know about? We only know about this because they’re home learning.’
