Reports in July noted that the Church of England Diocese of Southwark has seen contributions falling from orthodox parishes as a result of its participation in gay pride events.

Cathedral staff marched with the cathedral banner at London’s Gay Pride Parade, flew the LGBT flag from its flagpole, and is hosting an LGBT activist at a drinks reception in August.

Southwark’s Diocesan Director of Ordinands entered into a civil partnership in 2017, an event celebrated with a communion service, reception and dancing in the cathedral.
