A new initiative was launched in January in Cardiff aimed at encouraging Christian parents to nurture their children’s faith at home.
The Kitchen Table Project has been designed to help parents of children under 11 to inspire a faith that lasts, primarily by bringing God into everyday things that they already do. It was launched in response to research carried out earlier in the year that revealed how, despite 95% of parents acknowledging that it was largely their responsibility to teach their children about the Christian faith, 92% felt they could be doing more.
Research demonstrates that parents, not church leaders, are the biggest influencers when it comes to encouraging a living faith in their children – but many feel ill-equipped or simply don’t know where to start. Barriers to nurturing faith include family time being devoted to other activities and lack of confidence.
