It was reported in mid-March that the circumstances surrounding the death of the Revd Dr Iain D. Campbell, minister of the Point Free Church on the Isle of Lewis, are being investigated by the Western Isles Presbytery.
He was admitted to hospital following a reported heart attack and there has been much gossip, associated with his suicide, printed in national newspapers. The Free Church of Scotland issued a statement ‘giving assurance that they are exercising pastoral oversight in all aspects of this tragic case’ and that they ‘seek to deal with this painful matter in a way that is biblically faithful and Christ-honouring’.
