What do you call a collection of evangelistic workers? Answer: F.E.W.
Under the banner of the Fellowship of Evangelistic Workers (www.thefew.org.uk) there is now an annual conference for evangelists, several regional days around the country with guest speakers, and time for prayer and fellowship.
Buzz of passion
This year’s conference, 23–25 January, was attended by delegates from all four nations of the UK, from different denominations and backgrounds and with diverse ministries. Evangelists who preach in the open air, lead church and university missions, do door-to-door work and minister in prisons, within the military, on beaches, in camp work and amongst the youth, created a buzz of passion. There was Bible ministry (from Desi Maxwell and others), three historical talks on the history of the Brethren from David Earnshaw, sessions on reaching Jehovah’s Witnesses from an ex-JW, using The Word One-to-One, using gospel ‘magic’/illusion, taking school assemblies, and understanding today’s youth culture. There were reports from Soldiers and Airman’s Scripture Readers, Outreach UK, the Association of Evangelists, Yorkshire Camps, Open Air Mission and Open Air Campaigners, as well as individual evangelists.
