‘What’s your bedroom like?’ and ‘Do you miss your mother?’ are some of the intrusive questions Scottish pupils will be asked about their private family life in the widely criticised Named Person scheme, which will come into effect in August.

The No to Named Persons (No2NP.org) coalition said that councils will use the questions to identify which children are potentially ‘at risk’ at home. Answers to the questions will be stored on a database. Recently, a Named Person was convicted of exchanging images of child abuse.
