The North of England Conference took place at Dewsbury Evangelical Church on the weekend of 7 March.

The theme concerned God’s promises and whether we can hope for better days for the church in the UK. David Meredith of Smithton Culloden Free Church pointed the participants to gospel hope, gospel power and gospel resources. Luke Jenner, reporting on Grace Baptist Church in Halifax, said that a number of small churches tell of God’s blessing. Bill Dyer, who was the pastor of Pontefract Congregational Church, testified, sharing a personal account of God’s visitations in recent years. ‘Overarching everything’, said Mark Troughton of York Evangelical Church, ‘must be the Christian’s reliance on the hidden God who uses the cross and suffering to bring glory to his name.’
