Jesus is better

(LtoR) Dominic Smart, chairman Rob Jones & Jeremy McQuoid

Founded in 1931 as an offshoot of the Keswick Convention and formerly known as the Strathpeffer Convention, the Scottish Northern Convention was held in Castle Street Church of Scotland, Dingwall, Ross-shire from September 28 to October 2.

Jeremy McQuoid gave an overview of Hebrews, under the heading ‘Jesus is better’, with talks based around ‘a better saviour’, ‘a better man’, ‘a better covenant’ and ‘a better hope’. These were compelling and challenging, drawing listeners back to the supremacy and sufficiency of the Lord Jesus Christ as the centre and focus of our faith.

Dominic Smart preached in the evenings from Joel under the headings ‘God speaks’, ‘get ready’, ‘God provides’ and ‘God wins’, dealing with the stark reality of divine judgment on God’s people, the urgent call to repentance, the promise of the Spirit to God’s people and of salvation to all who receive their testimony and the fulfilment of God’s sovereign purpose in and through his people.
