FIGHTER VERSES

Fighter Verses (FV) describe themselves as on-the-go encouragement with additional Bible translations, multiple languages, quizzes, songs, and more.

I’m known by all my friends and family to have a particularly bad memory. I forget things sometimes even instantly after I’ve heard them. However, when it comes to academic information, and more relevantly the Bible, I seem to soak all that information up. One thing I’m not particularly good at in contrast is knowing lots of Scripture off by heart. This is where Fighter Verses comes in.

FV offers 52 verses a year (one a week) to memorise. The verses focus on equipping the believer for the everyday. The app includes devotionals each week for each verse. Helpfully, there is also a blog that focuses on these verses. The app also allows you to select your own verses to memorise.

As I write this, we are in week 36. James 1:22-24 is that weeks text, which is about hearing the word and doing it. James tells us that a man who looks in the mirror at his own face and then forgets it is like one he hears the word and doesn’t do it. Ironically, memorising the word of God will surely encourage and increase the likelihood of our outworking of what God instructs us to do.

There is a myriad of apps and websites out there that encourage memorisation of the word. However, FV is unique in that instead of a daily verse that you read and then probably forget seconds later, a weekly verse is offered and gives time to stew and meditate on the verse(s) and how God may be leading you through that particular verse.
