SIMPLY PREACHING:
A Visual Guide
By Daniel Goodman
Self-Published. 177 pages. £9.99
ISBN 979 8 864 287 996

Every picture tells a story. It is said that: ‘A picture is worth more than a thousand words.’ That might not always be true, but it is certainly the case with this innovative and quirky book on preaching.

The author, who is a church leader and a graphic designer, has compressed many years of observing preaching into 150 drawings that amplify what is important about preaching. One drawing depicts a collection of ingredients and an iced birthday cake along with the comment: ‘Content is important, but so is delivery.’

Those new to preaching and those who are more experienced will find a lot to like in this book. It does not take a long time to read but readers might find that the visual stimulus makes for an excellent refresher course on how to make preaching simpler and more effective.
