Scripture-based meditation

ABIDE APP
www.abide.com/

This app says on its website homepage: ‘Find peace with Abide. Listen to Biblical meditations. Sleep better and stress less with Christ.’

I’m usually a stickler for grammar and the correct use of words. Especially ones that have been adopted by the world and used to describe pagan practices. Like meditation, for example.

We know that the psalmist implores us to meditate on God’s word. Not the cross-legged humming meditation, rather the deep study and memorising of God’s promises. So when I stumbled across this app, the word ‘meditation’ threw me immediately. However, after consideration, it seems that this app is encouraging meditation of the Biblical kind.

Abide is an app that gives you daily passages and narrated Bible verses. The app also offers over 1,500 readings based on life issues. So whether you are suffering with anxiety, worry or stress, or maybe you want to learn more about what the Bible says about marriage – this app may be able to help you!

The user interface is modern and easy to use. All of the audio features can be adjusted, like length of devotion, and even background photo/video.

Boasting over 100,000 reviews at an average of 4.9 stars, this app has proved itself to be worth a try.
