In 2008, a group of leaders burdened with raising the value of Intentional Preteen Ministry met together in the hills of Colorado to seek God’s will and direction.
FourFiveSix is a resource to help you develop a ministry for 9–12 year olds. It helps in four areas: resources, ideas, training, and community. Every year there is also a conference to train pre-teen ministry leaders in Houston, Texas.
There is a plethora of resources. From books to event packs, three-year training courses to discussion cards! You can also sign up to in-person or online training. There is a podcast that is uploaded at least weekly where topics are discussed that can aid in increasing the fruitfulness of your pre-teen ministry. Many of the resources are free. However, there are options for paid events, training and conferences.
FourFiveSix also offer the opportunity to join online community groups where you can share and discuss ideas, testimonies, etc.
The most interesting discovery on their website is that FourFiveSix have created their own collectors’ card game. As a child I grew up in the golden age of football sticker books and Pokémon cards. Although it seems children have moved on to more electronic entertainment, I’m sure this card game would still appeal to a large number of children – especially in a time where clean entertainment is proving ever harder to find.
Having looked at what is available, FourFiveSix may well be a helpful resource for children’s workers.
