WALK WITH ME:
A year’s worth of reflections on the
Scriptures
By Bill Graham
Free Church of Scotland. 370 pages. £8
ISBN 978 0 954 459 161

From the Free Church of Scotland comes this collection of thoughts on Scriptural truth, one for each day of the calendar year.

Every day, a verse from the Bible is illuminated by a simple explanation. The scope of content is comprehensive, ranging from the character of God, Christian identity, attitudes and behaviour, to Biblical history and how to become a Christian. There is a pleasing emphasis on the life and work of Jesus throughout. The tone is avowedly paternalistic (in a positive way). The cover illustration gives a clue to the content and manner of teaching: a picture of a child holding the finger of someone older, a parent or grandparent perhaps. The brief, uncomplicated messages provide over the course of the year a strong and firm foundation of Christian truth, which can be built on later. This would be helpful for seekers, new Christians, or family devotions with primary-school-aged children.
