Ligonier Ministries
It’s 10 October 1520, and someone is banging at the door. The pope’s envoy is at Martin Luther’s door in Wittenberg with a letter telling him he has just 60 days to recant, or be excommunicated and executed.
The story of those 60 days and beyond is told in the new Luther in Real Time podcast from Ligonier Ministries through a combination of dramatic reconstruction and narration. Each ten-minute episode is released 500 years to the day after the events it relates. At the time of writing, I’ve been able to listen to the first three episodes and I’m already gripped. The pictures are always better on radio, and this podcast really makes the most of the audio format to engage our imaginations in church history, with sound effects, actors, and Barry Cooper’s clear, calm narration guiding us through it.
