THE KINGDOM OF GOD
AND THE GLORY OF THE CROSS

Short Studies in Biblical Theology
By Patrick Schreiner
Crossway 159 pages £11.52
ISBN 978 1 433 558 238

God is king. Living in a 21st-century Western democracy makes that difficult for us to fully grasp. But God’s kingdom is the unifying idea of Scripture, par excellence.

And yet evangelicals have tended to distort it. This is the author’s contention. Patrick Schreiner (son of Tom) is Professor at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon and he carefully defines the kingdom as ‘the King’s power over the King’s people in the King’s place.’ It is not possible to disentangle those three.
