EMBRACING TRUTH
Homosexuality and the Word of God
Edited by David W. Torrance and Jock Stein . Handsel Press. 252 pages. £6.95
ISBN 978 1 871 828 740

This is a timely and important book on an issue whose reverberations are currently seismic, not least in Scotland where the editors and many of the contributors hail from.

Its purpose is to uphold the traditional Christian sexual ethic while inviting all churches to listen again to the Bible. The editors see God calling evangelical churches to repent for ‘their lack of love and sympathy towards those of a homosexual orientation’, causing great suffering. However, its main thrust is to reassert the traditional teaching which it does helpfully, while adding important pastoral dimensions.
