OPENING UP RUTH
By Jonathan Prime
Day One. 96 pages. £5.00
ISBN 978-1-84625-067-5

This well produced little volume serves as an excellent introduction to, and provides a basic understanding of, the book of Ruth. Ideal for young Christians it will also prove useful for home Bible study groups with the questions at the end of each chapter providing a stimulus for discussion.

The historical and cultural background of Ruth’s day is well explained, helping us to understand and appreciate the relevance of the book to the 21st century and to modern living.

The text is accessible, avoiding the more technical approach of other works and each chapter is pithy and concise. The author sticks to the ‘big picture’, drawing out truths about the sovereignty of God in history, providence and redemption, avoiding the more fanciful interpretations that marked out a previous generation of commentators.

I heartily recommend the book.
