THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS
The book of Leviticus simply explained
By Philip Eveson. Evangelical Press. 416 pages. £10.95
ISBN 978-0-85234-640-2

This book in the Welwyn commentary series surpassed all my expectations and cannot be too warmly commended. To write a commentary on the Book of Leviticus is no easy task, but Philip Eveson has accomplished it in a most helpful way.

He sets Leviticus in the context of the whole biblical revelation and shows its key nature in helping us to understand the death of our Lord Jesus Christ and his priestly work on our behalf. A number of features stand out. The writer’s style is clear and concise. He is careful in explanation and practical and pastoral in application. The book of Leviticus is shown to be relevant to the daily living of the Christian life. Nothing that might puzzle the reader is passed over. Apt illustrations from contemporary life abound. The feature and characteristic that delighted me most is the consistent manner in which he shows how the book points forward to the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is not only informative but heart-warming.
