THE LORD'S PRAYER FOR TODAY
By Derek Prime
Day One. 150 pages. £6.99
ISBN 1 903087 56 2

I could not recall the last time that I had used the Lord's Prayer privately or publicly. This book was, therefore, both challenging and thought provoking.

The author reminds us that 'the Lord's Prayer contains all prayer's essential elements, with our major concerns being the honour of God's name, the coming of his kingdom and the doing of his will' (p.146). Each of the petitions of the prayer is presented as a picture of what it means to be a Christian. We are reminded that believers are trusting children (Our father...), reverent worshippers (Hallowed be your name...), and so on. The meaning of the prayer is clearly explained with many lively and relevant illustrations. Practical applications to the Christian life are concise yet demanding. This book is a joy to read and is highly recommended to all.
