A STORYTELLER'S GUIDE TO THE OLD TESTAMENT
By Owen Shelley
Scripture Union. 154 pages
ISBN 1 876794 20 8

An absolute must to challenge all Sunday School teachers and preachers!

Owen Shelley works with Scripture Union in Australia. In this book he brings 80 familiar Bible stories to life. Many of the outlines focus on the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11. The author succeeds in stimulating the reader in the task of teaching biblical truths in a contemporary way without compromising the integrity of Scripture. He deals with the difficulties inherent in this approach in the introduction and shows how he has thought the issues through. The stories grab the attention of the reader and my heart was warmed by the 'extra comments' at the end of each story and the applications the author makes. Many of the comments take the reader on, with the link to the New Testament and to the Saviour. Anyone wanting to tell 'the old, old story' to children, students or adults in a faithful way should invest in this little book. It is a gem!
