JESUS ON TRIAL
By J.M. Boice & P.G. Ryken
Authentic Lifestyle. 125 pages
ISBN 1 85078 470 1

The authors originally preached the core material of this short paperback at their home church in Philadelphia, USA.

The idea of examining the various stages of the arrest, the courtroom drama, the verdict and the sentencing of Christ has great potential, not least as an evangelistic tool, for use with non-Christian friends and colleagues who are used to the novels of John Grisham and TV's Kavenagh QC and the like. Sadly, the aim is not wholly met and the book seems to have trouble deciding exactly who its target readership should be. It is further hindered by references to the American legal system and some illustrations that many British readers might find difficult to fully connect with.

However, as a stimulus for an Easter preaching series the book has much to commend it and would be a valuable aid to any preacher. If the book could be reworked into a version that would take the concept and idea and focus it more clearly into a British scene that would be most helpful.
