TRAVELLING HOMEWARD:
Exodus simply explained
By Michael Bentley. Evangelical Press. 352 pages
ISBN 0 85234 429 5

This is a worthy addition to the Welwyn Commentary series. The book meets its aim to explain 'simply' the book of Exodus without ever (as so often with 'simple' explanations) descending to the banal and simplistic.

Well researched, Bentley's book is particularly effective in providing relevant background information and helpful illustrations to draw out the significance of the text. Throughout, the author seeks to determine the underlying principle of each passage expounded, and to draw out the contemporary meaning within a 'Christological' interpretative framework.
