The late E.J. Young (1907-1966) was widely regarded as the greatest conservative Old Testament scholar of his day. His was learning combined with deep spirituality and a notable humility.
His devout God-centredness is apparent in this recently republished volume (originally appearing in 1965), where he ex-plains Psalm 139 in 24 short chapters, each based on one verse of the Psalm. In so doing, he provides an antidote for an age when, as Professor David Wells has expressed it, God has become in our thinking (even in the church) so marginalised that he 'often weighs lightly on us'.
