A quarter are planters
Union School of Theology’s ministry report
published in December showed that 25%
of graduates in 2019 were church planters.
£461,000 of funds have been distributed
to church planting projects. Over the past
three years, 111 projects have been supported
in countries
including Albania, Germany,
Greece, Serbia and North Macedonia. There
has also been a partnership developed with
20schemes in Edinburgh.
Moving on
It was announced in mid-November that
after a decade of faithful service, Jonathan
Stephen will be retiring as provost of Union
in May.
‘When I came here in 2006,’ he said, ‘I
committed myself, God willing, for a ten
year period, by which time I would have
reached my 65th birthday. Having now
passed
that
landmark, Sheila and I have
prayerfully decided that just one extra year of
‘overtime’ is right for both us and for Union.’
