Bristol church rejuvenation lifts off
We might be of an age where it is our turn to care for ageing parents – sometimes meaning a move for us or them. It’s natural to want to help, writes Tim Howlett.
This has been true of two churches – a mother and her daughter – in South Bristol. Philip Street Chapel (PSC), in Bedminster, was formed in the 1860s when hundreds of men worked in the local coal mines. George Müller was being mightily used in his orphanage work. At the time, one PSC member remarked: ‘When Mr Müller preached the chapel always seemed full.’
Rugby World Cup outreach
From mid-September to the end of October, thousands of people will be following with interest the Rugby World Cup in England and Wales. There will be 47 matches at 12 different venues before the final is played at Twickenham on 31 October.
United Beach Missions has produced 100,000 rugby-themed gospel leaflets (written by Roger Carswell) with the aim to distribute as many as possible outside the grounds on match days.
