Tewkesbury: ripe harvest
Priors Park Chapel, lovingly known as ‘The
Chapel’ by the local community, is situated
in the heart of a large ex-council estate in
Tewkesbury.
For many years the seed has been sown by
friendships forged and the love and compassion of Jesus shown and declared to many of
the 4,000 residents. In spite of these efforts,
the Sunday morning congregation had fallen
discouragingly.
Portugal: a strategic work for the gospel
It is 30 years since the Communist regime forced Fabiano to leave his home country of Mozambique with nothing. He was already serving the church there and was recognised by the African Inland Mission as a potential leader. They were his only contact on his arrival in Britain, knowing no English.
He immediately entered Moorlands College in Hampshire – learning Greek and English. Subsequently he obtained a degree at London Bible College and in 1988 married Suzana, who had emigrated from Mozambique to Portugal.
A youth worker's nightmare
'I ask you, members of the jury, how many of you could defend yourself if you were falsely accused? How many of you could produce 16 witnesses and 100 letters of reference to defend yourselves?'
So said the defence barrister in the Winchester Crown Court in October 1999 after nine days of gruelling cross-examination.
