Reformation and revival
Every year
in mid-November about 70
people make the journey to Swanwick in
Derbyshire for the annual conference of the
Reformation and Revival Fellowship.
There were two speakers this year, Geoff
Thomas and George Macaskill. Both men
were faithful to Scripture and warm in the
delivery of the messages that the Lord had laid
on their hearts. This year Geoff spoke through
the first seven verses of Zechariah 3. All were
shown the glory of
forgiveness and a
full
salvation as Joshua in his rags and filth being
cleansed was considered. Then onto the reality
of justification and imputed righteousness as
Joshua was clothed. The commission given to
Joshua followed, and reminded all of the calling to serve God in this day and generation.
It was rich fare and a privilege to be present.
Vital necessity of the Spirit
The Reformation and Revival Conference in
Derbyshire, 14–16 November, was one of
close fellowship, times of prayer together
and good expositional preaching, the hallmarks of this annual conference.
Simon Clarke from Shepshed opened the
conference with an encouraging and challenging message
from Luke 11.13. His
theme was the vital necessity and glorious
promise of the giving of the Holy Spirit by
our heavenly father to those who ask. The word was refreshing and motivating as we
face the days in which we are living. How
we need to be asking for the Spirit.
Reformation & Revival conference
Outstanding ministry, delightful biography, earnest prayer, warm fellowship and good food – such was the fare at the annual conference of the Reformation & Revival Fellowship held at Swanwick in Derbyshire from 16–18 November.
Dr Joel Beeke, Geoff Thomas and Wyn Hughes ministered to over 120 people from all around the UK. Dr Beeke presented Christ as he spoke on ‘Our Altogether Lovely Saviour’. ‘In authentic revival, preachers are Christ-centred’ was his introductory contention. He then unfolded the beauty of the Saviour as he spoke of Christ Promised (Genesis 3.15), Christ Forsaken (Matthew 27.46), Christ Risen (1 Corinthians 15.20), Christ Married (Revelation 19.6-9). The Lord was made very real during these four sessions.
