Dear Editor,
Thank you for the lovely article in the June
issue about John Rogers. The bust of him, pic-tured alongside the article, has an inscription in
Latin, which says simply: ‘Here he preached,
and awaits the resurrection’. How is that for
saying all that needs to be said? No record of
decision cards signed; no churches founded; no
hint of self-praise. But would we not be delight-ed to have said of us: ‘Here she/he served the
Master – and awaits the resurrection’?
