Dear Editor,
While Jacqui Wright's 'A letter to single
women' (November en) makes some valid
points, I think these can be better applied
to anyone who is hurting or struggling to
feel accepted, rather than to single women
as a whole. I appreciate that being single
can be difficult at times, but I think the
betrayal, rejection and abandonment that
Jacqui describes are not necessarily the feelings of single women: they are universal
and can be experienced whatever our marital status. Equally, being deeply loved in
Christ is an identity that all Christians can
claim and delight in, and Christ should be
our ‘one true love’, whether we are single or
married.
